Stockholm boasts some of the best restaurants in the country. From Asian, all the way to Mexican cuisine, this small city of just 1 million inhabitants has a world of flavours at its doorstep. If you need some help finding the best restaurants in Stockholm this summer, look no further. Whether it be a fine dining experience you're after or just a quick bite to eat, you'll be sure to find it in Stockholm.

Summer is a magical time in Stockholm. Once the cold weather retreats and the warmth begins to gradually emerge, you'll see Stockholmers awaken from their winter hibernation. The streets suddenly seem filled with people, browsing through the shops, enjoying an ice-cream and even catching some sun (anything over 15 c is sunbathing weather here!)
But the most popular pastime in the city is enjoying one of the many restaurants and food establishments that the city has to offer. Due to the abundance of restaurants in the city, choosing where to eat may seem like a challenge. So, below I've come up with a list of the top 5 best places to eat in Stockholm that are perfect for enjoying a summer evening out with friends and family.
1. Omnipollos Hatt

If you've ever taken a walk along Götgatan, then you may have noticed Omnipollos illuminated hat logo peeking out in the middle of Hökens Gata - a small side road that leads to Södra's Teatern. But no, this is not a magicians shop, as one might imagine judging by their storefront sign.
This small, cosy bar could be considered the hipster headquarters of Södermalm, with clientele sporting the likes of red plaid shirts and beanies. Omnipollos specialises in only two things; stonebaked, sourdough pizza and a variety of eccentric beers, on tap. Although the menu changes regularly, there are always roughly 14 pizza options and 11 different beers.
One example of the exotic pizza menu includes Kiwi, Strawberry, Banana, Cream Cheese and White Chocolate topping (!) But if you're not feeling that adventurous, you can always opt for a classic Margarita, or my personal favourite - Provolone, Pancetta, Apricots and Chilli Flakes in a Vanilla Marinade. Yum! Wash it down with a Blueberry Pie Beer, and you'll have drinks and desserts all in one.

2. La Neta

Authentic Mexican food in Europe is hard to come by, which is why I was so happy to stumble across La Neta, a stylish Mexican eatery. They have two outlets in Stockholm; one in Norrmalm and one in Södermalm, but I find that the restaurant in Norrmalm has more of a cosy, authentic feel to it.
You can choose between a selection of tacos, quesadillas and large, filled tortillas, with different meat or veg options including pork, chicken, beef or vegetables. With one, palm-sized taco costing the reasonable price of 24 kronor, it's common to get a variety plate of 5 different tacos (110:-) so you can give everything a try.
Don't worry about the spice - there are plenty of milder options and a condiment bar that offers a range of different sauces with varying heat levels, to suit your needs. Accompany your meal with the classic Mexican beer, Corona, and you have the perfect summer evening out with friends! Just be sure to turn up early as it is not uncommon for a queue to form outside the door.

3. A Bowl
This place is casual enough if you just want a light lunch, but also formal enough to go out for a meal with friends or colleagues. The Oriental-inspired establishment specialises in poké-poké bowls, that consist of a rice base, a selection of vegetables (often including kimchi) and a protein source. Vegan options are of course available.
The eatery is located along a scenic, cobblestone road in Mariatorget, and is just minutes away from panoramic views over Stockholm's centre. As the restaurant is quite small, they build a terrace directly outside in the summer months to host the extra customers that visit during the season.
A personal favourite of mine is the Raw Tuna Fish Bowl with Pickles and Cashew Nuts, but all of the other options look very tasty. A Bowl also offers takeaway options, and it is common to see office workers sweeping by to collect their lunches during the weekdays. And at roughly 100 kronor for a bowl, it is affordable to do so on the odd occasion.

4. Surfers
Your Culinary Single Ticket East is Surfers moto, and they sure do deliver on their promise. Visiting this restaurant is more of a flavour experience than a meal out. Unlike every other Asian eatery, chow mein and spring rolls are a thing of the past because Surfers experiments with new and unusual flavour and texture combinations.
The restaurant specialises in Sichuan Cuisine, a province of China that, historically, is said to be home to over 5000 traditional dishes. Surfers do their best at condensing all of the flavours and spices of these dishes down to a selection of around 15 dishes, that are great for sharing with family and friends.
Dishes always come with a twist of flavours, such as the Ribs with Cinnamon and Star Anise or the Fish Broth with Pickled Mustard. If you would just prefer a drink, then head over to the bar where you can order one of their eclectic cocktails and enjoy the surrounding modern-oriental decor that includes an umbrella clad ceiling.
You'll need to book well in advance to get a good table here, so it's good to note that in the summer months Surfers have a pop-up restaurant in Humlegården Park, so watch out for that!

5. Bastard Burgers
You can get a burger anywhere but you can't get a good burger everywhere. Bastard Burgers is the king of quality street food that has an authentic taste and feel. Here, the burgers come stacked and the fries come loaded with a whole variety of toppings and sides.
The Unami Truffled London is an example of a popular burger from their menu and is made with truffle mayonnaise, pickled red onion, crisp salad, pepper jack cheese and cheddar. The great thing about Bastard Burgers is that they offer every single burger as a vegan option and even have a dedicated vegan menu with sides, so you don't have to compromise on taste to save the environment!
The burger chain was established in 2016 so remains a fairly new, up-and-coming restaurant, and you can certainly feel those vibes when you step through the door. Although Bastard Burgers is marketed mainly towards the young adults, with graffiti-clad walls and wire-exposed hanging lights, anyone can enjoy the novelty atmosphere here. Maybe just don't bring your Grandma...
