NEWLYWEDS Ellie Mae and Greg Bowyer said “I dough!” after ordering 50 large pizzas from Domino’s in Farnham for their wedding guests last weekend.
The couple, who met on their second day at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford, ordered six different types of pizza, complete with sides to cater for their 110 wedding guests as they tied the knot.
It was the largest single order Domino’s takeaway in The Woolmead had ever received and the guests said it was “the best wedding food they had ever had”.
Ellie Mae, 30, and Greg, 32, who got engaged on New Year’s Eve in 2014 and held their wedding in Crondall in honour of Ellie Mae’s great grandfather who was the vicar of the local church.
The “random, relaxed wedding” came complete with a bouncy castle and games, the event being described as “more like a village fete”.
Ellie Mae said: “It was definitely the best day of my life.”
The ballet teacher attended Farnham Sixth Form College before meeting her now-husband at ACM. They have been gigging together ever since and have a joint YouTube channel ‘EMG Acoustics’ where the couple frequently post acoustic covers.
Greg is head of photographic restoration at the Frame Centre in Farnham.
Despite currently living outside of central Farnham, the vegetarian bride has ancestral ties with the local area, being the descendant of Bishop Charles Richard Sumner of Farnham Castle in addition to William Wilberforce whom they named their electro duo after - ‘We are Wilberforce’.
The couple moved to Whitehill in July last year but Ellie Mae added: “I hope we move back to Farnham eventually.”
The fast-food fiesta adhered to the sense of community throughout the day as the wedding incorporated local organisations including The Red Lion Brewery which ran the bar and Mirabelle Tea Shop in Haslemere, supplying 120 cupcakes to the couple on the day.
Some of Ellie Mae’s own students even helped out with the waitressing.
“Everyone commented on how relaxed the day was and said the food was brilliant!”, said Ellie Mae.
The Bowyers thanked the staff at Domino’s, Farnham for being so helpful with their relaxed, chilled day, saying that the staff were “very helpful” and adding “we’re really glad we did it”.
The newlyweds look forward to their honeymoon in the Maldives in December which will be their first time travelling outside of Europe - although they will be 620 miles from the nearest Domino’s.
